Apply for Sponsor Licence

In most cases, when recruiting a migrant worker, you will need a sponsor licence to lawfully employ someone to work for you from outside the UK.

To apply for a sponsorship licence, you must prove you are a genuine organisation operating lawfully in the UK. You must show you are aware of, and capable of carrying out your visa sponsorship duties, with the appropriate HR and recruitment systems and practices in place.

We will prepare your application and provide you with training on all responsibilities as a Sponsor Licence Holder.

You will usually be classed as a small sponsor if at least two of the following apply:

  • The annual turnover of your business is £10.2 million or less
  • Your total business assets are worth £5.1 million or less
  • You have 50 employees or fewer.

The current Home Office sponsor licence fee for small employers is £536 and for medium and large sponsors it is £1,476.

Issue CoS to Candidate

Before an employer can sponsor a migrant worker, they must assign a Certificate of Sponsorship to confirm that the conditions of the relevant visa have been met.

This is done through your SMS portal Sponsor Management System. The new Skilled Worker will use the CoS reference to make their sponsored visa application to the Home Office.

The CoS can only be used for employment with your company for the duration of the Visa. The Home Office fee for the CoS is £239 irrespective of the company size and classification.

Prepare Visa Application

We will complete the Visa application and all legal paperwork and requirements on your behalf for the candidate.

They must possess a valid passport and produce a clear TB test result if they have lived in a listed company within the last 6 months.

Most Skilled Worker Visa applicants will need to prove they meet the English language requirement by achieving a minimum level of B1 on the Common European Framework of Reference and we will assist them with the organisation of this.

The cost associated with this is the Immigration Skills Charge of £364/£1000 (dependant on Employer size) per year for the duration of the Visa which must be paid by the Employer.

Other costs include  the Visa Fee of £719* and the Health Surcharge of £624 per year both of which may be deducted from the employee.

*In the case of staff travelling directly from Philippines the Visa cost is not permitted to be recovered from the employee.
